On Friday, October 11 Parker Fire Department came to Welcome to put on an hour long fire safety program! Students learned how and why to call 911, learned about smoke detectors, learned how to exit the house safely, and many other tips! They learned from hearing from the firemen, hearing songs from "The Puppets in Black", and seeing Sparky the Fire Dog! It was fun and educational!
Parents - remember to test your smoke detectors monthly, change your smoke detector batteries twice a year, and replace your smoke detectors every 10 years! Also, make sure your family has a specific meeting place to go to in the event of a house fire. Stay safe by keeping oven mitts, kitchen towels, and other flammable items away from a hot stove.
