Happy Monday! We have had a great few weeks since our last blog update in Room 004! In math we are continuing to learn about numbers 0-10. One of our favorite activities was making number hats and sequencing ourselves in the correct order! This week we are learning more about using ten frames as we count. We have also started our math stations (small groups) and have enjoyed practicing our counting while reviewing previous concepts as we adjust to our new routine.
We did a science experiment for the sense of sight last week called "Walking Water". We watched with our eyes and saw colored water 'walk' up paper towels and mix together to form new colors! It went along with a book called Mouse Paint and was very exciting! I can give you more information if you want to try this at home.
You'll notice a new type of book coming home this week! We received materials from our first Donor's Choose project that was funded earlier this year! Our class now has a complete set of BOB books to use as our baggie books for homework! I love BOB Books because they are perfect for kindergarten students to read independently. They start with simple alphabet books, move on to simple cvc (consonant vowel consonant) words that students can sound out, and build to more complex sentences. You can find these books at book stores in our area or in the Scholastic Book Club flyers if you want a set for your student!
