This week we talked about how things are different now than they were long ago. In addition to discussing these differences, students were able to experience first hand how food was made long ago! After discussing where butter comes from, students learned about churning butter. We discussed the churn and how it worked... and how we could adapt it so we could try it. Each student was given a jar with heavy whipping cream and a pinch of salt, then they had to shake it until it formed butter! Students had a lot of fun and learned how hard people long ago had to work for their food. Afterwards, students were able to enjoy bread and butter together.
