We began our trip with a hayride tour of the farm. We saw 2 corn mazes, the pond, the apple orchard, and the pumpkin patch! It was neat for students to see the pumpkins in their natural state as we prepare to discuss pumpkins in a couple of weeks and have an authentic experience to think about as we discuss how things will change for winter. Next, we navigated our way through a corn maze! The corn was about as tall as our students, so it was very fun. Niven's also has a wonderful play area we used as we waited for our next turn. They also had signs showing us the life cycle of an apple! Then we had our picnic lunch and tasted Niven's Apple Cider! After a visit to see the farm animals and bee hive, we picked our pumpkin and came back to school. It was a very fun day! Niven's is also having a pumpkin festival complete with a Blue Grass Band and BBQ this Saturday, October 17th, from 9:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. Students also got a coupon for an activity in their notebooks today.
