On Friday, November 20 we celebrated our good choices in related arts with a Pajama Day! Each class earns gold coins for following expectations and doing our best. We put all of our coins in a gold jar and get a reward each time we fill it up! This was our first reward this year - and we are looking forward to our next one!!
On Monday, November 23, we began our discussion on long ago and today. As part of that discussion, we discussed how we can get things we need at Bi-Lo and Target, but long ago people made the things they need from what they have. We discussed butter and butter churns, and how tiring it could be to churn butter for long periods of time. Students were then able to try making their own butter! This is a fun activity you can try at home. We used small, glass baby food jars filled with heavy whipping cream and a pinch of salt - then we had to shake, shake, shake! After the butter formed, students tried their fresh butter with some bread.
Today, we celebrated Thanksgiving with our annual K5 Thanksgiving Play! Students worked hard to learn their songs and motions and enjoyed sharing them with all of our wonderful families who were able to attend! Thank you for joining us today!
We hope you have a wonderful Thanksgiving that is packed with family and fun!
