Dr. Seuss Week 2016

Dr. Seuss is on the loose!  We celebrated Dr. Seuss week at CCE Feb. 29 - March 4, 2016!  It was a week of fun events, books, rhyming, and tasty treats.  On Monday, we began with Wacky Tacky Day in honor of The Sneetches!  The Sneetches teach us that it's good that to be different and we got to celebrate being us!

On Tuesday, we celebrate the Earth with The Lorax.  We discussed ways to protect the Earth and wore green.

On Wednesday, we had a Fuzzy Friend Day in honor of the book If I Ran the Zoo! We discussed the interesting animals Dr. Seuss created in his story.  We enjoyed having our animals with us throughout the day and even wrote about them during our writing time!
On Thursday, we celebrated being Courageous and tried Green Eggs and Ham (just like Sam-I-am)!  The cafeteria staff fixed it for us at lunch, and we also cooked it together in our classroom.  After we tasted our Green Eggs and Ham (sitting here, there, or anywhere!) we wrote about them.

On Friday, we celebrated Dr. Seuss' most well known book The Cat in the Hat!  We also dressed up as Book Characters!  We had a parade with our first grade friends and got a visit from The Cat in the Hat!

Thank you to all of our families who helped our students participate in these fun events!
