Fisher's Orchard, Red Ribbon Week, and Pumpkin Day!

Our last 7 days have been full of fun, learning, and celebration!  On Tuesday, Oct. 25 we took our first field trip to Fisher's Orchard in Greer, SC. Everyone had a great time and enjoyed the picnic lunch, hayride, petting zoo area, maze, and picking apples & pumpkins!  Even better than that, according to our class, was getting to ride a real school bus to get there! :)

We also celebrated Red Ribbon Week last week!  We had a several spirit days including: Dress for Success day, Sock it to Drugs Day, Black Out Drugs Day, Team up against drugs Day, and I'm a "Jean-ius" Day.  I didn't pictures of us in our jeans, but I was able to capture our class exploring on how to make shapes given only toothpicks and play-doh.  It was a fun and challenging activity!

Today we celebrated Pumpkin Day!  Students enjoyed hands-on fun as they gathered pumpkin seeds from a pumpkin, measured a pumpkin, tested to see if a pumpkin would sink or float, learned about the life cycle of a pumpkin, compared white and orange pumpkins, used pumpkin seeds to count the number of corners on our 2D shapes, and tasted pumpkin flavored treats!  This was also Miss Rice's 1st day teaching us this week!  We are excited to see what she has prepared for us to learn the rest of the week.
