A Peek at our Week! Aug. 28 - Sept. 1

We had a great week together!  We continued to discuss, practice, and reinforce classroom routines and procedures.  Students enjoyed reading Pete the Cat: I Love my White Shoes and A My Name is Alice this week!  They worked to make our first class book and a guided writing Pete the Cat craft that you can see during Open House on Monday, Sept. 11.  We began our Color Days, which help build a sense of community.  We also began reading emergent readers with color words and worked on scissor skills by searching for and cutting out pictures to match our color each day.  We began Math workshops and understanding how to work with a small group of classmates while sharing materials.  We began our first math unit and focused on 2D shapes in our whole group lesson and looked at patterns in a few of our small groups.  One of our favorite things this week was visiting the "Big Kid" playground (used primarily by 1st & 2nd grade) while a new piece of equipment was installed on the K5 playground!!  More information to come next week. :)

We ended our week on a very exciting note!  As a class, we collected 250 Box Tops to take with us to Music to give to Mrs. Fernander!!  WOW!   Please continue to clip & save these to support our Music Program! :)
