STEM Math project: Building Bridges
Each pair of students was given 4 tongue depressors, 4 dixie cups, and 16 counting bears. They were challenged to build a bridge using all of their materials that would hold all of the bears! It was amazing to see the thought process and teamwork this activity brought out in our students!!
We celebrated Watermelon Day as a follow up to our book The Watermelon Seed! We learned about a seedless watermelon (no danger of swallowing a seed here!) and the parts of the watermelon. Students watched as a watermelon was cut open and into slices and approached their watermelon like a scientist. After making observations, and eating their watermelon, we did one final information writing piece with what we learned about watermelon.
Box Top Pizza Party
We were one of the top classes with Box Tops again this year!! I'm not sure of our final total, but I believe it was close to 850-900 Box Tops! Each box top earns $0.10 for our music program that helps fund purchasing music, instruments, and materials for the chorus and hand bell groups! We were so thankful to Mrs. Coleman and Mrs. St. Charles for this special treat!
Salute to Graduates
High school seniors who are graduating this year, and attended CCE, were invited back for a clap out and celebration! The entire school cheered them on as they took a lap around the school and then visited with their former teachers. We had a big brother and a cousin to cheer on in Room 004 as well as Mrs. Best's former kindergarten friends! I can't wait to see our friends return to CCE in 2031 for their special celebration!!
Water Day Fun
We rotated through Water Day stations with Mrs. Boland's K5 class. We had sprinklers, a water balloon toss, bubbles, a sponge relay, and Drip Drip Drop (which is like Duck Duck Goose, but with a sponge). It was a great day!!
